Today, I went Courts with my hubby and in-laws. And I bought a pot of 太阳花. I had been hunting around for this for months. I was so excited when I saw it in store. It costs only $4.90.

I like 太阳花 (Portulaca grandiflora) because it is very colourful. They have white, yellow and pink flowers; all in one pot.

太阳花 is like mimosa, it will fold its leaves at night and re-open it during the day.

I learnt about 谢安琪Kay Tse through TVB Entertainment News early this year when her song <<囍帖街>> won the Best Song of 2008 in TVB's 2008 Jade Solid Gold Awards (勁歌金曲獎) Ceremony. She left me another deep impression is that she is married (who is her husband?)! This is very rare for Hong Kong female singers.

I know this song is very famous but did not hear it until recently when Yes933 kept playing her <<欢送会>>. <<欢送会>> is the mandarin version of <<囍帖街>>. I had always wondered what is so great about her and her songs until now; I am addicted to her <<欢送会>> . I truly understand why this song is so popular and won the Best Song of 2008. You will grow to love it the more you listen to it. It is very 耐听.

Ok, here is the song that I would like to share with all of you today. I am listening to this song while composing this post. It has been playing frequently in my iTunes recently. Try it and see if you like it like I do.

Singa Spotted In Town

That day, my frenz and I were chit chatting and we came to the topic about the different Singapore mascots. We were asking where are the clean & green frog, the courtesy lion Singa and the pink donation elephant? They were our lead models when we were young. We saw them everywhere but now that we have grown up, they have gone missing. My fren told me that the Internet rumours that Singa, the Courtesy Lion has left the world already. I seriously don't know how true this is. If it is true, I think Singa has reborn! Becasue... it was spotted in town last Saturday!!! I witness it. He/She is waving and shaking hands with the public. He/She is no longer wearing a smiley face T-shirt but a heart T-shirt. And guess what, he/she is working for the kindness campaign, and not the courtesy campaign anymore!! I guess courtesy is kind of difficult to promote without a heart, his/her KPI is so^x tough to achieve. Don't your feel so? You will understand what I mean if you have watched those ugly behaviours on Stomp.sg. And I am sure you have experiences in which you were pushed by unreasonable people on bus and train, right?! They like to rush to the door even though the MRT door hasn't opened. I really hate them!!

What am I watching lately? It is Channel 8's 小男人周记 My House Husband's Journal (catch it on every friday, 8pm). 郭亮 and 赖怡伶主持. I grow to love 赖怡伶's Variety Shows. She is super funny and real. If you really know me, I seldom watch MediaCorp TV, but because of her, I tuned my TV to MediaCorp channel to catch her shows. ;P

So, after we collected our wedding cards from the hotel this morning, my bf and I took a bus to Hotel Rendezvous and then a five minutes walk to POMO's new Japanese food court (Ishi Mura) for lunch. You must be wondering where is POMO, right? Actually it is the former Paradiz Centre. Ishi Mura is furnished like a Japanese street. You can find ramen, japanese pizza, bento and other japanese food there. Prices start from $4.90. Because it is quite out of the way, the place is usually not crowded and too noisy. And with that kind of furnishing and pricing, it is a great place for frenz outings/gatherings. *hint* *hint* Haha!

After we boarded the ship, we headed straight to the restaurant. Athough I am a big eater and was very hungry that evening (after a day at work), I did not enjoy the food. The food onboard was really so so. If you're going for quantity, you will definitely enjoy the food on cruise. Because it's all buffet and you get to have at least 4 meals a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner & supper).

After dinner, we went around and took some photos.

I always look at the cruises from Harbourfront but this round I looked at Harbourfront from the cruise. The night was stunning with the onshore lightings and reflections from the water.

It has been some time since my last post. It is not because I have nothing to post but I am really very busy with my wedding preparation, wedding phototaking, dog training and renovation. And here I am, finally can sit down to blog.

Let's trace back to 3 weeks ago. My bf brought me to 3D2N star cruise Virgo to KL with his parents and neighbours (11 to 13 Feb 2009). It was the first time I went on a cruise. Although there is not much entertainment onboard, I still enjoyed it as it was a brand new experience for me. *Thanks dear!*

Have you ever noticed gals who sit their handbags on public toilet floors, then go directly to their dining tables and set it on the table? Happens a lot!

It's not always the 'restaurant food' that causes stomach distress. Sometimes "what you don't know will hurt you"!

Mom got so upset when guests came in the door and plopped their handbags down on the counter where she was cooking or setting up food. She always said that handbags are really dirty, because of where they have been.

It's something just about every woman carries with them. While we may know what's inside our handbags, do you have any idea what's on the outside? Women carry handbags everywhere; from the office to public toilets to the floor of the car. Most women won't be caught without their handbags, but did you ever stop to think about where your handbag goes during the day.

"I drive a school bus, so my handbag has been on the floor of the bus a lot," says one woman. "On the floor of my car, and in toilets."

"I put my handbag in grocery shopping carts and on the floor of the toilet," says another woman "and of course in my home which should be clean."

We decided to find out if handbags harbor a lot of bacteria. We learned how to test them at Nelson Laboratories in Salt Lake , and then we set out to test the average woman's handbag.

Most women told us they didn't stop to think about what was on the bottom of their handbag. Most said at home they usually set their handbags on top of kitchen tables and counters where food is prepared.

Most of the ladies we talked to told us they wouldn't be surprised if their handbags were at least a little bit dirty. It turns out handbags are so surprisingly dirty, even the microbiologist who tested them was shocked.

Microbiologist Amy Karen of Nelson Labs says nearly all of the handbags tested were not only high in bacteria, but high in harmful kinds of bacteria. Pseudomonas can cause eye infections, staphylococcus aurous can cause serious skin infections, and salmonella and e-coli found on the handbags could make people very sick.

In one sampling, four of five handbags tested positive for salmonella, and that's not the worst of it. "There is fecal contamination on the handbags" says Amy.. Leather or vinyl handbags tended to be cleaner than cloth handbags, and lifestyle seemed to play a role. People with kids tended to have dirtier handbags than those without, with one exception.

The handbag of one single woman who frequented nightclubs had one of the worst contaminations of all. "Some type of feces, or possibly vomit" says Amy.

So the moral of this story is that your handbag won't kill you, but it does have the potential to make you very sick if you keep it on places where you eat.

Use hooks to hang your handbag at home and in toilets, and don't put it on your desk, a restaurant table, or on your kitchen countertop.

Experts say you should think of your handbag the same way you would a pair of shoes.

"If you think about putting a pair of shoes onto your countertops, that's the same thing you're doing when you put your handbag on the countertops " - Your handbag has gone where individuals before you have sneezed, coughed, spat, urinated, emptied bowels, etc!

Do you really want to bring that home with you?

The microbiologists at Nelson also said cleaning a handbag will help. Wash cloth handbags and use leather cleaner to clean the bottom of leather handbags.

After the collapse of the financial stock market, we have to take stock of our spendings. Do you know where can you find the cheapest food on Orchard Road? Let me recommend to you the Famous Pontian Wanton Noodles 笨珍云吞面 at 45 Cuppage Terrance. Small bowl costs $3 while the big bowl costs $3.50. The specialty of the noodle is not only it's the cheapest & nice food on Orchard Road but they claim that their noodles will not become soggy even if you pack it home. I saw many take-aways. After your noodles, you can try their desserts (e.g. green bean soup, yam paste, etc.) too, they going from $1.30.

My bf and I usually will eat this if we go Orchard. After meal, we have to take stock of our weight! Haha. LOL

I had always wanted to post Mrs Tan's wedding photos but I am real busy lately (both in office & at home). Finally done so today! *smile*

Let me trace back to Jan 2009. I attended Jingxian's wedding on 10 Jan 2009 at Carlton Hotel. The food was good especially the shark fin soup and yam paste. I liked it! The bowl of shark fin soup that I ate had a lot of shark fin; it was not like what Jingxian said that she could hardly find any shark fin when she went for her food tasting.

Took quite many photos during the wedding but most of them didn't turn out well. This is definitely not the photographer problem! It is the lighting there! ;P Indoor and night scenes are difficult to capture ok.

Would You Go into The Same Toilet with Your Close Friend (of same gender)?

Today, I walked pass a toilet. One is the unisex toilet for the handicapped while the other is the gent's. I saw two uni (not unisex hor! I mean university.) gers walking to the toilet. They are friends. I witnessed the followings:

"Hey, wait for me!", shouted Ger B from the back.
"There is only one toilet here, the other one is gents", said Ger A.

Ger A went into the toilet. Then, Ger B ran to catch up and went into the toilet after Ger A. Next, I heard the toilet door locked. Both of them actually went into the unisex toilet together. There is no cubicle inside.

I was shocked and disgusted... Hmm.. would you go into the same toilet with your closest fren of the same gender? I am sure I can't. I can remember how awkward it was when I saw naked woman walking around in the changing room after hot spring in Korea. Not to mention to go into the same toilet for me! So tell me, would you?

Grocery Shopping

Went grocery shopping with my mum and sis at NTUC FairPrice.

This is my first time to see chinese character imprinted on an apple. I don't know how they did this and it is not definitely not done using ink. These apples are labelled "China Premium GP Apples" in the supermarket and costs $7.88 for a box of 6. And out of these six, only four have chinese word imprints (招财进宝). The other two are just PLAIN apples! This is cheating!!

Anyway, I guess some like to use this as Lunar New Year gift for relatives and friends. Personally, I don't hope to receive such gift because I don't like apples. ;P I ONLY LIKE FRAGANCE PEARS, frenz pls take note.

Next, I saw metal chopsticks selling at NTUC!! Seems like metal chopsticks are becoming more and more popular here. I can still remember how hard it was for me to get 5 pairs of metal chopsticks for my mum years back. I sought my colleague's help to get them purposely from Korea . And it was quite expensive. But now, they are so cheap here, only $5.60 for 5 pairs!!! Anway... what can I say now. Just remember never ever buy metal chopsticks from Korea as souvneirs from now on , understand?! ;P

20 Cheapest Hawker Stalls in Singapore

I was reading 新民日报this evening and came across an interesting survey by Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE). CASE conducted a survery of 255 food samples between Nov and Dec 2008. They reported that most food stalls in Singapore did not increase prices and here is the list of 20 cheapest hawker stalls in Singapore.

Don't know how true this is but according to the list, seems to me that most of the cheapest stalls are located in eastern part of Singapore. So unfair! If you're staying in the west region of the island like me, we shall frequent Bukit Batok from now on! ;P

Toyota Yaris Mass Recall

Toyota Yaris is one of my favourite cars in terms of exterior design. I was shocked when I heard Toyota is recalling Yaris and some other models worldwide due to faculty seatbelts and exhaust pipe defects. It is really lucky that the ones in Singapore are not affected by this recall. I believe this will definitely cause chaos if the recall include Singapore because Toyota is the most popular automobile brand here.

It, however, could not rule out models which were parallel imported into Singapore from Japan. Toyota said owners of such vehicles should seek advice from the dealers they bought from.

Toyota said on Wednesday it is recalling 830,000 Yaris cars in overseas markets including US, Europe, Canada and Australia.

In Japan, it is recalling a total of 525,898 Vitz, Belta small car and Ractis compacts built from January 2005 to April 2008. "

Parkway Parade(PP)'s Fish & Co is a dog-friendly restaurant. ☺ We have seen many dog owners brought their dogs there for meals.

大年初一，We went to PP Fish & Co for dinner with Ms Ooh and Pikii. Took a few photos together with the three cute ox at the foyer outside the shopping mall.

The soup of the day was seafood chowder. It was very good! Thick & yummy! However, Ms Ooh and Pikii did not appreciate the food. Ms Ooh doesn't like seafood while baby Pikii was too tired after a day out. Haha! That was a good news for us, because we did not need to share food with them this time. ;P

Pikii - Our New Family Member

Introducing our new family member, Pikii. She is a 5 months old Chihuahua, joins our home today. She is my sis's baby. My sis has been longing to have a dog herself. As darling Ooh will be moving home with me soon, there will be no doggie to keep them accompany anymore. Hence, my sis adopts Pikii. We hope that Ookii and Pikii can get along with each other before I move out. This is important especially when any of us is away for trip, we can help each other to take care of each other's baby. ☺

Cough & Flu 我生病了!

I woke up in the morning having sore throat then followed by running nose. Sneezed the whole day in office and went to see doctor in the evening. Again, doctor said this is a virus attack! (!! I guess doctors these days don't bother to explain the actual illness.) Anyway, I think I caught the virus from my user (she's on MC today) yesterday evening. She was sneezing badly when I met her. Sigh.

I bought the goods from Doggyfriend, an online pet shop in the morning and arranged for a home delivery in the evening. It definitely saves me the time and money to travel down to the pet shops one by one to hunt for it. Most pet shops will not carry such product because it has a big price tag and it's rare & hard to sell (How often do you change your toilet bowl? It's the same logic.).

Although with the upgraded toilet, Ms Ooh is still not used it, she protests by refusing to pee. ;( Haiz. Really doesn't know how to appreciate a three-stars toilet!

Today, I went shopping with my bf's brother-in-law and his nephew for our bathroom accessories again.

Dropped by Newton Food Centre (纽顿熟食中心) for lunch. It has been really some time since my last visit there. I was surprised by its new resort look! No wonder it is gaining more popular among the tourists. It has became a must-visit attraction for tourist to Singapore these days. During my 30 minutes lunch there, I saw many tourists there. One angmo couple was eating black pepper crab with tiger beer.

The food there is relatively more expensive than our neigbourhood hawker centre! The wanton mee that you see below costs $4.00!!!

Latest headline of Singapore today. Singapore Blur King, Mr Ong is out of town this weekend starting this evening. He must be on the coach now. This is his second trip to Kuala Lumpur (KL). *faint* ;P Super good life! He is taking the luxury Aeroline (coach with on-board crew & meals) to KL and staying in KLCC. His mission of this trip is to confuse the malaysians. I pity those around him now. Haha!! Don't care lah, let's enjoy the upcoming weekend in Singapore without him around. ;P

New Disneyland in Shanghai by 2014

News just reported that Walt Disney Co. has confirmed that it would submit plans to the Chinese Government to build its next theme park in Shanghai by 2014 today. If this is built, it will be the third disneyland resort in Asia following Japan and Hong Kong.

No matter what, I am very excited about it because this will be definitely a cheaper workaround to fly to Japan & the States. However, I guess by then, we should be accompanied by our kids. ;P

By the way, where was the plan to build a disneyland in Malaysia years back??!! I am waiting for it too.

"There is a famous legend behind the Chinese Astrology that says that once upon a time the Jade Emperor arranged an animal swimming race to measure time. The first twelve animals that completed the race were Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Ram, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. As a prize, they all got a year each named after them.

According to another legend, Buddha once invited all the animals in the world for a New Year celebration, but only twelve animals turned up. Buddha then rewarded them by naming a year each after them. Moreover, these years follow in the order the animals arrived for the New Year celebration.

Let' s take a look at each animal, their major personality traits and what the prospects are for 2009, the Year of the Ox.

The Rat
Rats are charming, elegant and clever. They can be a bit gossipy and prone to being distracted. They ' re also thrifty and very good with handling money. Forecast for 2009 - 2009 will be an encouraging and positive year but the Rat will need to keep his eye on the world around him in order to avoid unnecessary pressures. The Dragon

Gossip could feature strongly during the year and all Dragons should take care not to indulge in idle chit chat lest in backfires on them! The Snake

The Horse

The Horse will have a tendency to overdo things this year. The Goat

Peach-Apricot Tea

Recently, I am addicted to the Peach-Apricot tea. Simply love the strong peach taste! It costs $4 plus for 25 tea bags, you can get it from Carrefour.

It was started from the time when my bf and I shopped for our wedding bands at Love & Co. The friendly salesgirl/salesman there always served us Peach-Apricot tea on our every visit.

I guess the sweet memories had played a role for my liking for the tea. So, should I change my blog URL? ;P

We always ask for more time when we are rushing something. This year, the wish really comes true. All of us are given one extra second as new year gift. So, have you had any plan on how to spend your extra second? Is this a blessing?

This extra second actually warns us of the harm that global warming is doing to the earth. Maybe we can use this one second to think about what we can help the mother earth. ;P

Miawling is my best old fren, know her since secondary school. Today took leave and went shopping with her. We started from Orchard and ended in Marina Square. Haha! Power right? Also, burnt a hole in my pocket. ;P Haiz.

We ended our day at Secret Recipe, Marina Square. Ordered two cheese cakes. They are delicious but sinful!! Thank you Miawling for the treat.

Miawling bought a pair of sueded alice from Crocos. Nice shoes BTW!

We celebrated Jingxian and Vincent birthdays after Jingwei's wedding at Big O Cafe at Wheelock Place. It was Jingxian's hen party and Vincent's bachelor party too. Haha! Super memorable! We ordered some tea, waffles and ice-cream. Although the pricing was quite steep there (abt $12++ each), their desserts were good and their servings were huge. Thus, it was still quite worthwhile especially it is a good place to celebrate the special occasion! Check out the photos below. Delicious isn't it? A Happening Weekend

Afternoon Tea Buffet at Lao Beijing (老北京食堂)

I took leave to go Lao Beijing hi-tea buffet at Plaza Singapura with dear yesterday. ;P

Pic on the left is actually their menu, like martial art '秘籍', not '密级'(tks Biaogang for the correction, haha ;P)!

I learnt about this buffet from the TCS show <<永远吃不肥>>. It is a good show, I try to catch it every Thursday 8:00pm. So frens, pls don't ask me out on Thursday ok. "Not free hor!" Haha!

We went once on a friday, but we didn't manage to try as they started giving out queue no. at 2pm (their buffet starts at 3pm and ends at 5pm) and all the queue numbers were taken up way before 3pm. Sigh. So, we went at 2pm yesterday to get the queue no. Super Kiasu, haha! But no choice, I am being forced to.

The buffet menu is limited but it's worth a try if you like dumplings and xiaolongbao. It's $10.20 per person. With all the taxes and service charges, it amounts to $13.50 each. My favourite food in the buffet was the tomato soup.

Check out what I ate yesterday, don't drool hor! Lastly, wanna say a thank you to dear for treating me. Haha! Free treat for me again.

New Ez-link Cards AGAIN!

Haiz! We have to change our Ez-link Card again this Dec! I think this is the 2nd time that everyone in Singapore has to change together. Last time was farecard to ezlink card. WHY AGAIN?! I don't mind if their card designs are nicer. I hate it because it's super ugly and it's getting worst for each design.

I just can't stand my card's default look that I bought her a cover (on the right) early half of this year and now I can't bear to part with it. The design on the left is not that bad, it is the 1st design when Ez-link card was first launched, the default look of my card here is bad because I lost my 1st Ez-link card and this is a replacement. Sigh!

Let's pray hard that their designs improve.
